work life
– Owner and owned
Historically as soon as people enter the workplace rather than equality, development and partnership, it is more ‘owner and owned’; I am paying you so you will do my bidding the way I want it to be done. This accepted way in society of treating others in their work life and creating fulfillment outside the workplace seems to be suspended between 9 and 5.
– Employees are individuals
An employee is the same person psychologically both inside and outside work. Therefore each employee will respond differently to different situations including workplace demands. How to make the most of your employee needs to be individually understood and setting up policies to be implemented and accepted has advantages.
– Compassion and respect
If an employer is to make the most of a workforce there are two crucial aspects:
- to manage employees with compassion as individuals;
- to create a working environment where relationships can flourish that respect individuals for the unique contribution they make.
Some are more brittle than others, some are more resilient. Some have had good enough starts in life and some not so. This needs to be recognised and allowed for so that the full potential of staff in the business.
As a therapist I am interested in how we help others to make the most of their lives and to become the person they were truly born to be; as a unique individual with unique talents. Let me help you achieve this within your workforce.
